Betsey Johnson celebrated 50 fabulous years of fashion – both in a rocking runway show for NYFW (complete with her signature cartwheel) and here in LA, for LAFW, with a showcase installation at the tony Taglyan Complex on October 6th.
Presented at Art Hearts Fashion, just days before the official launch of LAFW — several looks from the New York show were brought in for us West Coast fashionistas to enjoy. As every Betsey Babe knows, the epononymous line always delivers a pop of bright color and kitchy fun.
Highlights of the night included a totally 80’s Madonna era dress for the 80’s girls in all of us. A 60’s era polka-dot mod minidress and a pink sequined bikini. I myself paired a retro pink lacy top with a retro leopard heart necklace from Betsey Johnson for the event.
A fashion mainstay, Betsey Johnson has been part of the fashion world for years before officially launching her brand in 1978. She began as an intern for Madamoiselle magazine. Art Hearts was founded in 2011 by philanthropist and designer Erik Rosete. Sponsors include the Top Model and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
