Life’s one big fairytale for Georgine Ratleband. Counting Beyoncé and JLo as fans of her eponymous line, the celebrated designer turned to fabled stories of Princesses and the Land of Once Upon a Time for inspiration.
Postcards with the iconic Snow White apple were left on assigned seats as fashionistas took their spots before the show. Then, as the lights dimmed, and the music kicked in, and drawing upon classics like Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood, the Fall/Winter collection presented thirty-five outfits worthy of a Hans Christian Anderson treatment. The first twenty-seven of which were all sugar, spice, everything nice and totes worthy of a modern Disney Princess. But the final eight were pure witchcraft: sexy, sheer, jaw-dropping… and with bewitching descriptions in runway’s program like ‘Poison Black Velvet,’ ‘Cursed’ and ‘I Put a Spell On You Dress.’ Sexy stunners are the best sorts of spells!
Gabrielle Union was even spotted wearing one of these sultry gowns at the Vanity Fair Oscar party two weeks later. Naturally, she looked hot, hot, hot! (I mean, she always does, but still!!!)
Of course, many of the other looks were pretty fab too. A cotton-candy-colored neoprene dress with bon bon wrappers (yah, seriously) looked pretty fun to wear as the model strutted down the catwalk. (At least, until a hungry boyfriend tried to rip the candy off one day, hmmm….)
With looks like this, what girl couldn’t live happily ever after as she got ready for the ball?!
Whitney Port, Patina Miller, Selita Ebanks and Arden Cho were among the front row A-listers. Moroccanoil’s (love them!) Global Ambassador Antonio Corral Calero was the lead hairstylist, keeping styles for the Fairytale Princess Models pretty and feminine with either topknots or softly tied in the back (love the bows!). Seriously contrasting the Witchy Women look of slicked-back hair. Gordon Espinet stayed on theme as well with his glowing, soft MAC Pro makeup looks. Further credit shout –outs include DJ Laurent Vacher for (duh) tunes, Patricia Yankee (nails) and Moscot Sunglasses (you know I love me a good pair of sunnies!)
