Naomi Campbell parties w Baja East during NYFW

img_1144 Supermodel ICON Naomi Campbell once famously quipped that she didn’t get out of bed for less than ten thousand dollars. So you know it’s a big deal when the legendary beauty makes an appearance at your fashion show and after-party.

Held on easily the hottest day of NYFW – temps were in the scorching 90s and the humidity was off the charts – the Baja East Fashion Show took place in a steamy parking garage in lower Manhattan. Fashionistas, editors, stylists and bloggers packed into the lower floor of the garage to check out designers Scott Studenberg and John Targon’s roll out for Spring/Summer 2017.

With the parking garage lending this very gritty, very street, very sweaty vibe to the runway – the Bandana-wearing models strutted down the catwalk looking pretty grunge themselves despite the tropical flair of their #ootds. Really, a perfect combo for a sweltering kind of day in the tropics.

Thankfully, after the show, the fashion forward got a reprieve by heading up to the top two floors of the much better ventilated garage for an epic after-party. With taco stands, mini tequila bottles of Don Julio for the taking, 360 degree photo booths and Minions getting their groove on among party-goers.

Along with Ms. Naomi Campbell, Chanel Iman, Jaime Chung and singer/model Teyana Taylor joined in on all the sweaty Fashion Week fun. Celebrity DJ Mia Moretti kept the tunes pounding and the brother-duo Rae Sremmurd entertained the crowd with an energetic performance.

A floor below, partygoers were grabbing Minion stuffed dolls as fun partyfavors, commemorating Baja East’s funky collab. If the taco stand wasn’t enough (and it wasn’t), Brooklyn-based-but-also-in-Los-Angeles vegan ice creamery Van Leeuwen was handing out scoops of happy in four fun-flavored (I tried the turmeric cookie, soooooo good!). You could also scoop up some Baja East goodies – for a price – as they were selling swimsuits and undies. If you’re feeling non-shoppers remorse, no worries! The items went up for sale the following Monday on their online website.
