How do you start up a modeling agency in Snapchat and Instagram-obsessed 2015? Why, throw a massive party, of course. With some serious model power.
Industry vet Rene Gonzalez should know. He started his career in 1995, working in such top tier agencies as Wilhelmina and IMG and on such campaigns as Carolyn Murphy, Bianca Balti, Joan Smalls and Stephanie Seymour.
The agency’s geared for the digital age, where models are much more than pretty faces for print media — but reality stars themselves. Of course, the agency was up and running well before the launch party, with clients walking many of the runways during NYFW. Still, fashion insiders headed to The Skylark to celebrate State’s official launch on September 9th. Showcasing stunning views of both the New York skyline – and of course, the agency’s models, The Skylark was the perfect NYC hotspot to host the event, not too far from former NYFW headquarters Bryant Park and the Garment District.
Models, designers, editors and other fashionistas hobnobbed as celebrity DJ Mia Moretti (she worked with the late DJ AM, and has been seen in the glossied pages of Harper’s Bazzar, Nylon Magazine and The New York Times) kept the party rocking. Waiters proved that even if models don’t eat, those that work with models (sometimes) do. Champagne and creative appetizers, such as watermelons with a dollop of balsamic vinegar, were served throughout the night.
And as a party favor, partygoers were given a USB with info the newbie agency’s 411 and a book with all the model’s info.
Spoiler alert: All the models are much, much taller than me. Ah well, that’s what heels are for.
Such a fun night. Much thanks to State Mgmt. Find them (along with their models) on IG @StateMgmt and their website www.statemgmt.com. Of course, if you can rock 5”9’ without heels and are ready to be the next Kendall Jenner, you can also send them your model pics on the website.Share the XOXO's with your BESTIES and FRENEMIES
