Warm, a multi-label boutique in trendy NoLiTa, is launching its own line for Spring/Summer 2016. The boho-chic boutique is owned and curated by husband and wife team Winnie Beattie (who also runs Siren PR) and Rob Magnotta (also a photographer). They teamed up with established LA designer Tracy Feith (Michelle Obama’s worn his designs) to create the line. Together, the trio dove in headfirst with their first showing at New York Fashion Week. Hey, go big or go home, right?!
On September 9th, in the evening before the official start of Fashion Week, fashion insiders were invited to their inaugural presentation. Held in an open minimal space in SoHo, the room was divided into two sections. On one wall, hung large photographs of well-known New Yorkers modeling the latest designs. Pictured above, before the room started filling up, it gave a particular art museum feel. Against the opposite wall, dresses from the collection (hung from a clothing line) flanked a few mannequins (also wearing pieces from the new line).
Many of the models were on hand to hobnob with other insiders and speak about the process. A one page newspaper was handed out, simply showcasing all the photos and listing the first name of each model. No major name-dropping here, the presentation had an earthy, 70s, urban hippie vibe – mirroring the clothes themselves.
The new line, of course, will not be available until next spring. But, when in NYC, be sure to stop by the Mott Street store. Opening its doors in 2012, it carries clothing (women, men, kids), jewelry and home décor. Up till now, it’s mainly sold non-exclusive brands such as Rachel Comey, Jolie/Laide, Cuisse de Grenouille and Maison Maison. Their fragrance, aptly named ‘Warm,’ is of course a notable exception.
